Sources of Carbon

The Earth's Crust: The largest sum of carbon dioxide on Earth is usually stored in sedimentary rocks.

Seas: most in the form of dissolved inorganic carbon kept at great depths. A much smaller amount of carbon is situated near the surface area.

Atmosphere: Mainly in the form of CO2. This carbon is of essential importance due to the influence on the greenhouse effect.
