" The Masquerade of the Crimson Death” Examination
Mankind offers this all-natural fear of fatality and many endeavors to escape coming from it. Even so the fact continues to be that although humanity may try to increase life just as much as they can, fatality will soon arrive. Everything features its as well as everything drops dead. In " The Masquerade of the Red Death” Edgar Allen Poe conveys the allegorical notion of the inevitability of fatality and mankind fear of it through the use of meaning.
Poe portrays thinking about death's inevitability through the symbolism of Prince Prospero, the Red Fatality, and the issue between them. In the story, Poe appropriately names the royal prince " Prospero” which means " prosperous”. The prince illustrates this productive symbolism through good health of his " robust” figure (Poe 12) and the luxurious suite in which he entertains his enthusiasts (2). This kind of establishes Prince Prospero as a symbol of prosperity. On the other hand Poe as well portrays the prince as a symbol of humanity's cowardliness of fatality. While the Reddish colored Death statements the lives of his subjects, Knight in shining armor Prospero attempts to escape from him by isolating himself wonderful followers in an abbey. Besides he stay away from the inevitable, he preserves the illusion of success by lavishing himself and his followers with entertainment such as fools, dancers, and music (2). Regarding the Crimson Death, dr. murphy is the personification with the disease jogging rampant in the kingdom as a result making him a symbol of the death that Prince Solido and the masqueraders try to escape from. The struggle among Prince Prospero and the Crimson Death becomes an whodunit during the prince's confrontation from the Red Fatality (14). Bearing in mind of the meaning of the two characters, the message is that death can not be conquered. Anything must come to an end so loss of life will always earn. This reigns true once Prince Florido dies on the hand from the Red Death (14).
